I am fortunate that I work in a setting surrounded by great art. The artist featured in one of these galleries right now is Denise Duong of Oklahoma City. I wish I could show you how fun her work really is, but you just have to see it in person. I can't imagine the many hours that go into each of her pieces, cutting tiny shapes of paper to create whimsical characters. You can click here to see the information about her current show.
I think it would drive me crazy . . . I can just imagine spending an afternoon sorting through papers to find the "right" ones, cutting out the many, many individual pieces . . . then, knowing me, I would lose at least one of the pieces and spend a good deal of time searching for it, give up and cut a new piece only to find the original piece afterwards. I'm not saying that's how it goes for Denise - I'm sure she's more organized than that - I'm just saying that is what would happen if I tried to do this kind of art! Which makes me appreciate it all the more!
